I disliked the college professor the most. How was it acceptable to go out with a different student every few weeks? Maybe things were different then, but it still disgusted me seeing such a thing. The professor just used the girls for his own selfish pleasure. He had nothing genuine to offer them. I felt bad for the girls who went out with him, but it was also very satisfying to watch them spill the cup of water on him at the end.
I didn't even know that he was a college professor. But yes, it was pretty messed up on how he spoke to them. When they spilled water on him, the professor literally does nothing to stop them from walking away. It makes me know that he doesn't care.
I'm going to play devils advocate, the professor does what a lot of men in general do- use women for temporary satisfaction. I think what appeals to a lot of people and makes him the most hated is that he uses female students who are younger than him. I think what is important is the fact that he knows how each girl is probably going to go down similar paths with similar endings. Maybe he likes the predictability
The character I disliked the most was Loretta's father. The way he spoke to his daughter in the beginning down talking her about the marriage rubbed me the wrong way. Especially when he was cheating on his wife, him coming home from the opera with the mistress. The wife tried asking him where did you go but the husband acted nonchalant about it responding that he had a long day and wanted to sleep with a upset look on his face. I found that to be very disrespectful when the wife I believe did nothing wrong to him.
Loretta's dad made a bad choice in his life . When faced with an ultimatum he made the right choice . He was selfish and probably going through a mid life crisis . Everyone makes mistakes but I believe he loved his wife and stopped cheating .. So he wasn't all bad !
I didn't really dislike any of the characters . I think their flaws made them more like able . The professor grossed me out . After he talked with Loretta's mom I realized that he was just a lonely old man who found young women easier. I kind of felt sorry for him. His outlook on women and life was pretty sad . He was entirely too old, to be such a fool .
I actually kind of liked the professor. I feel as if he was a misunderstood man, who didn't understand women. After offering an ear to Lorettas mother, I seemed to like him even more. Though he was an old man, he had an immature mentality concerning women and still had much more to learn about them.
I seemed dislike Johnny the most out of all the characters in Moonstruck. In the opening scene, he struck me as someone who felt as if he was entitled to certain things. I also did not like his thoughts concerning controlling women. He seemed to laugh, and told Loretta that a man who is unable to control his woman is funny. Throughout the movie however, I ended up feeling bad for him rather than having a sense of dislike towards him because he was a difficult man to really understand.
I can't really say Johnny was the worst character in the movie. I didn't really have much of an opinion of him in the beginning but I did also start feeling bad for him throughout since Loretta was cheating on him. Although I guess things worked out for him in the end anyway.
I think Johnny was a troubled individual ever since losing his hand (and lover) in the freak accident. It's difficult to judge him after such a dramatic thing happened. The ending makes Johnny out as a compassionate human, so I guess things worked out for the better with him.
I didn't really like Loretta's father that much. He has this attitude like "I can do whatever I want and I don't need to explain myself to anybody". Even the way he talks to his wife and brushes her off like she doesn't need to know his business. What makes it worse is that he is cheating on her. His character is overall pretty bad.

I didn’t like Johnny because he was such a silly character. He seems really clumsy with both his actions and his words. He probably wouldn’t be able to make up his mind on anything on his own. And he was just weird. Definitely not deserving of Loretta or his brother’s forgiveness.
I dislike the Professor because preyed on his students who where much younger them him. He was kind of weird, he spoke to the ladies poorly. The part that I liked was when the ladies would dumped their drinks on him and he would stay sitter there all alone. Things are different now that behavior would be unacceptable.
The character that I disliked the most was Johnny because to me he sounded like a big baby. He was to attached to his mother. I think he is the character that changed the least throughout the movie.
At first I disliked Cosmo the most. I especially hated when he tried to give Johnny a warning about Loretta after they both caught each other in the wrong but in the end, I think all the characters brought something unique to the film.
The character that I disliked was the professor, because he was such a pervert taking advantage of his immature students. The problem was he repeated over and over different students for different occasions.

ReplyDeleteI didn't like Ronny that much. I feel like he should have taken responsibility for loosing his hand and not to blame his brother.
